HAIKU PSALM FOR A T PLACE

HUNTER SANDERS

Picture

i.
Cloud passes the sun,
[Delayed illumination]
solar wink, shades glow.

Selah.

ii.
Cloud passes anon.
Red curtain glows, dims again.
Yellow curtain glows.

Selah.

iii.
Milk hisses with steam.
Dishes, muffled, clink reply.
I eavesdrop. Eaves sigh.

Selah.

iv.
Stranger sniffs on phone.
"I'm fed up with constantly..."
He sees me, hushes.

Selah.

v.
A tree’s living glass,
stained green but making light dance.
It has one dead leaf.

Selah.

vi.
In a whispering
wood I walk bare-toed. Leaves flip.
I wonder around.

Selah.

vii.
The owls smoke outside.
The bears rumble and sip tea.
Doe tote fawns. "Chai please"

Selah.

viii.
Woman types, headphoned.
Suddenly her eyes slit me.
I hide. How'd she
see?

Selah.

ix.
Tea of cloves and tang.
Bass beat and a minor key.
These are what God loves.

x.
We all die anon.
This is what I do it for.
Cloud passes again.

Selah.
